Philosophy of Cheerleading: The purpose of the Dupont Hadley Cheerleading Program is to promote school spirit and a positive school environment by participating at athletic events and extra-curricular activities as deemed appropriate by the Cheer Coaches. As recognized school leaders, cheerleaders are expected to be positive role models at school and in the community. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. The information provided in this packet explains the qualifications and responsibilities of Dupont Hadley cheerleaders.
Practice: During Football season- 4:08-5:30 on Mon., Tues., Wed. During Basketball season- 4:08-5:30 Monday
Games: Football- games on Thursday Basketball-games on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Season: August 2009 - April 2010
Cheerleading Season is from August 2009 until April 2010. It is a time consuming activity and it is the responsibility of each cheerleader to be present at each activity. Before scheduling outside of school activities such as dance/gymnastics or other sports, a cheerleader must carefully evaluate the time demands of schoolwork and cheerleading. Dupont Hadley students are able to participate in school sponsored programs and be a cheerleader. However, academics do come first as a student/athlete. Please assess the time commitments of all school and social activities to be sure the student can fulfill each duty to the best of her abilities.
Equipment Needed: Ultimately parents are responsible for the cost associated with cheerleading.
Uniforms: We will purchase uniforms if needed. These uniforms will be kept clean and worn only to approved events. The team member is responsible for their uniform for the entire season.(Appox. Cost $250.00) which includes: shell, skirt, crop top, briefs, poms sling bag, ribbon bow, socks, warm – up, and shoes.
- All items must be paid in full before you will be issued the uniform and accessories.
- Uniforms are to be worn on approved occasions only.
- If a team member comes to a game out of uniform IN ANY WAY, he/she will not cheer at that game. Missing more than one game may result in a dismissal from the squad.
- No jewelry may be worn (stud earrings only). No gum chewing, This is according to TSSAA by-laws.
- Hair must be pulled back on both sides, if above the shoulders, or pulled back in a ponytail
