As you know, Metro Schools requires Standard School Attire for all students.
The move to Standard Attire in 2007 put Metro Nashville Public Schools in step with other school districts across the nation seeking to increase school safety and create a calmer, more productive learning environment.
All pants, shorts, skirts, skorts or jumpers-dresses must be navy blue, black or any shade of khaki (no olive green or grey). Denim jeans of any color and cargo pants or shorts are NOT allowed. Cargo pockets are classified as pockets that blouse out from the side of the pant. Pockets that lay flat against the pant are allowed.
Pants must be worn at the waist at all times. No sagging is allowed. Any student wearing pants, shorts, skirts, skorts or jumper-dresses that have belt loops must wear a belt at all times.
All shirts must have a collar and short or long sleeves. Shirts must be tucked into pants, shorts, skirts or skorts at all times. Acceptable styles include polos, dress-style with or without buttons, or turtlenecks. Manufacturer logos, if any, must be smaller than two inches, although school logos are not limited in size. Shirts with buttons may only have two buttons left undone at any time.
Undershirts must also be one of the standard school attire colors. Any graphics printed on undershirts must not be visible through the top layer.
White and navy colored shirts are acceptable across all MNPS schools. In addition DuPont Hadley allows the following colored shirts: red (no maroon or burgundy), black, any shade of blue (i.e. royal blue or light blue) and any shade of pink (i.e. fuchsia or light pink).
During the winter months students may wear any style jacket to school, however, they must be placed in their lockers once they enter the school building. Acceptable coverings allowed in school include, sweaters, cardigans, sweater-vests, blazers or light weight fleece jackets. A collared standard school attire top must be worn beneath these coverings and the coverings themselves must be one of the standard school attire colors.
All clothing must be within one size of the student's appropriate colthing size.
There are no restrictions on footwear except flip-flops which cannot be worn at DuPont Hadley. Flip-flops are classified as any shoe that has a strap running between the toes.
If for any reason standard school attire regulations are eased or lifted your student will be given ample warning before hand.
